KPV
Anti-Inflammatory Tripeptide
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (|¡§¡é-MSH). It retains the potent anti-inflammatory properties of the full |¡§¡é-MSH peptide while offering improved stability. Research has focused on its ability to modulate inflammatory cytokine production and its potential role in gut mucosal inflammation models and wound healing pathways.

Mechanism of Action
KPV exerts its effects by binding to melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R) expressed on immune cells, inhibiting NF-|¨ºB activation and downstream pro-inflammatory cytokine production (TNF-|¨¢, IL-6, IL-1|?). It also acts directly on intestinal epithelial cells, modulating inflammatory signaling independent of receptor binding, which is relevant to gut inflammation and barrier function research.
Research Focus Areas
- Inflammatory cytokine modulation
- Gut mucosal inflammation models
- Wound healing and tissue repair
- NF-|¨ºB pathway inhibition studies
